Folk Art Farms is an eclectic property located in Whiskey Creek. Every August, the owner of this special site hosts an amazing music festival. In 2023 I was asked to be their official photographer.
In 2022 I was invited to go to Cumberland to be an official photographer of the Cumberland Wild Family Festival. With prior commitments operating my business "Azalea Flowers and Gifts" I could only get to Cumberland for Sunday. It was very special to say the least!
Five Acre Co are kinda like the new kids on the block with a very impressive portfolio already and a vision of what music in the Alberni Valley is going to be like for years to come.
The Rainbow Room Lounge is a spectacular place to catch live acts. The location is preset with a drum kit, the audio and amps are in place and Dave is working the sound board for you, all the while video taping the performance from multiple camera angles. Lighting and smoke effects put the finishing touches in play. All you need to do is get your fans dancing.

The Youth Battle of the Bands is an annual competition designed to promote and encourage Vancouver Island musicians and bands. This is part of the "Zattzoo Project", a charitable organization created to honour the memory of Zakkary Coss, an up and coming hip hop artist. It is an absolute honour for me to be associated to this event and organization as a photographer!

2022 and 2023 proved to be amazing and intense years for me as a music photographer and 2024 is already shaping up to be just as amazing. Port Alberni is a hub for live music on Vancouver Island. Each year, annual events such as the Annual Fall Fair and Salmon Derby play host to an abundance of live musical acts. The music does not stop there! A very important showcase of musical talent in Port Alberni is the Youth Battle of the Bands, a project that is home grown and continues to get bigger with each passing year. The winner of this event is offered an opportunity to perform at a Five Acre Co music event. The Five Acre began as a back yard event to honour Zakk Coss. From here the Five Acre Shaker was born. As a music festival, it spent a few years on the property of the McLean Mill National Historic Site. The pandemic put this festival on hold for 2 years before it emerged stronger as the Five Acre Co and a new location. The Rainbow Room Lounge is also a very popular location in Port Alberni, allowing musicians for all genres to strut their stuff.
