About Lyndon Cassell Photography, Media and Communications
About me
In May 2010 I left Calgary for a 6 month house swap on Vancouver Island. When we settled in Port Alberni, I took my camera to an evening Cancer Walk event in Port Alberni. This is where I met a journalist from the now closed "Alberni Valley News" who offered me weekend work taking photos. From June until October I had the honour of attending event after event. It wasn't just small events or private events. Between what I was exposed to through the AV News and my getting to know the volunteers of McLean Mill and the Steam Train, and the then president of the Thunder In the Valley, I knew I needed to make the Alberni Valley my home. That came true in May 2012!
I have been a photographer for most of my life. With a life long passion for filmmaking, I got into film and photography in the 70's. My first still camera was a Polaroid and my first move camera was a Super-8mm. From there I have never looked back. These two creative utilities has always been hobbies of mine and I have produced many independent short films, have worked in educational television, been on too many video, television and film shoots to count, and at the present time I focus my energies on my flower shop and photography. I consider myself and working photographer now and I use that to help in promoting and marketing the Amazing Alberni Valley.
