Coming to Port Alberni

Getting to the Alberni Valley by automobile along Highway 4 is a special and exciting journey, especially if you have never been here before. There are plenty of attractions, places to stay, sites to see and if you have the time, we recommend you spend a day or two checking it all out before you enter the Valley.

Start your journey to the Alberni Valley

Goats on Roof (Coombs)

When you get off the highway leading to Port Alberni you will drive past Coombs. A quick detour will take you to the Coombs Market where you can visit the famous Goats on the Roof

Drive through Whiskey Creek and check out the farm land and campgrounds

There is a summer event called the "Folk Art Farms Festival" that has newly started in Whiskey Creek and it is close to the Whiskey Creek Provincial Park. For 2023, this event is being held on August 5 and 6 and I have been invited to be the official photographer. Images and more will be added to this site in an appropriate time frame and manner.

Cameron Lake

Follow the winding road along the shores of Cameron Lake. There are campsites along the way. Once you have finished your drive past Cameron Lake you will duck into trick brush and trees. You're about to enter MacMillan Provincial Park - better known as Cathedral Grove.

Slow in, prepare to stop and park. Go check out those massive trees in Cathedral Grove

Over the Hump

Head through the Grove, go over the Hump. As you take the winding road into the Valley you are going around the base of Mt Arrowsmith. As you drive take a peek around, and start heading down the Hump into the Alberni Valley, and let me show you around.

Hole in the Wall

Let's stop at the mouth of the Valley and take a detour into the Hole in the Wall

In behind Coombs Country Candy you can hike to the Lookout. This is a great place to go if you want a view overlooking the Alberni Valley.
