The City of Port Alberni houses a professional fire department that is responsible for emergencies within the boundaries of the city limits. There are several regions that surround the city and each has it's own volunteer fire department. They are Cherry Creek and the Cherry Creek Volunteer Fire Department; Beaver Creek and the Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department; Faber Road has one of the Sproat Lake Volunteer Fire Department stations while a second Sproat Lake Volunteer Fire Department House is located on the Tseshaht land next to the Tseshaht Market.
