A creative portrait can be anything that is beyond simply sitting in front of a camera and smiling. There are many types and styles of creative portraits for individuals and groups including movement and composites. You can find some of my creative work here.

Event Portraits: I photograph several events in Port Alberni. A photo booth is always an option and I have been involved with photo booths in many settings, both interior locations and outside on location. I have multiple lights and backgrounds that can be utilized to create the perfect look. Candids are a personal favorite for which there are two types. One candid type is of the subject in their own environment unaware of the camera. The second style is a pseudo-portrait. In this style, the images are more playful and less formal. It's is the opposite of a formal sitting portrait where the subject sits, smiles and looks directly into the camera lens or in a direction directed to the subject by the photographer.
Promotional Portraits: In mid November 2022 I worked with Trevor Price to put together a series of new images for him to use in advertising and marketing his music "Trevor Price Music"
Private Parties
It's always an honour to be invited to a family gathering to take candids and family portraits.
Group Portraits: In mid October 2022 I worked with a group of ladies for a "Bad Witches" photo shoot for Halloween. The ladies are all close friends and wanted something that added to their bond as friends.
YPAV JAzz and Gin
On February 22, 2020 I worked my last event for quite a while before the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the world. The Young Professionals of the Alberni Valley (YPAV) hired me to photography their fundraising event "Jazz and Gin". The YPAV organization became a victim of the pandemic and were forced to dissolve later in the year.
Chamber Awards Gala
I have been the official photographer for the annual Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards Gala since 2016. My primary focus is obtaining portrait style images off the attendees and award winners.. View my Chamber pages by selecting the image.
ADSS Redcarpet. I was the photographer in 2022 for the ADSS Graduation Red Carpet at The Athletic Center. In 2021 I was the photographer for the same event, expect it was a two day event, with day one being held at McLean Mill Historic Site and day two being the Red Carpet at the Starboard Grill at the Harbour Quay
ADSS Graduation Ceremony 2019
I became the official ADSS Gradation Ceremony photography for 2019. I am already booked for the 2020 ceremony. (We all know that the pandemic wreaked havoc and this event was put on hold for a couple of years)
ADSS Scholarships and Bursaries 2019
I was invited to be the official photographer during the 2019 ADSS Graduating Scholarships and Bursaries Awards Evening.
ADSS Grad Reunion - Class of 1979
I was invited to take photos at the ADSS graduation reunion for the class of 1979. Most of the images are portraits with my evening culminating is a group shot of approx. 150 people standing at the beach.
WCGH Nurses Christmas Party 2019
I was invited to set up a photo booth for the West Coast General Hospital's Nurses Christmas party for 2019.
ADSS Grad Parade
You won't find this spectacle anywhere else! A unique tradition in Port Alberni which allows the graduating class to be shown off in style as they parade through town in antique autos and some other very cool modes of transportation. Destination for this beautiful event is the annual prom.
Family Photos
I spent an afternoon in March 2022 in the back yard of a local family working on a series of family portraits to coincide with the 100th birthday of the family matriarch.

I spent one Saturday in October 2022 at Busy Bees Childcare taking halloween portraits as part of their Halloween event.

Photos with Santa
In 2018 I organized a 3 day "Photos with Santa" during the annual Christmas celebrations at McLean Mill National Historic Site. Photos were by a $10.00 donation with the proceeds going to McLean Mill.
Sunset Cruise
I have been the official photographer for the annual Sunset Cruise for 2017, 2018, and 2019. This event is hosted by the Young Professionals of the Alberni Valley and is always a sold out event aboard the Francis Barkley.
Ty Watson Gala (Red Carpet)
I have taken informal and formal portraits and candids at several Ty Watson events including a Black Ty Gala in 2010, a golf tournament in 2017 and a red carpet at their 2018 gala..
Charity Golf Tournament
Each year several charitable organizations gather and host the largest one day golf tournament in the Alberni Valley. At this event I take team portraits as part of their fundraising efforts.
