Kitsuksis

Kitsuksis Dyke Walking trails sit on both sides of  Kitsuksis Creek. The creek runs into the Sumass River at Clutesi Haven and you can take the walking path there. If you want to do the loop, you can start near Clutesi Haven where it is referred to as Kitsuksis Creek Dyke. The walk is  a loop walk that will lead you to the Kitsuskis Creek Waterfall and a trail trestle.

Kitsuksis Dyke Walking trails is one of the most popular and well used walking paths in the Alberni Valley. At the start of the path near the dyke you will find a dog park. As you move along the path you will find park benches, one of the best water parks in the Valley.

There are walking trails all around the city, with the most popular and largest being the Log Train Trail. You can access this from many locations throughout the city.

One of my favorite times to walk the Kitsuksis Creek Walking path is in the evening before sunset and with interesting clouds in the sky! From that point onward I'm certain to get a beautiful looking sunset. When that happens my camera goes into click-click-click mode!

Seeing the creek during a fresh snow fall is without a doubt an exhillirating experience. The natural everyday beauty was transformed into a magical experience. Everything, even the local ducks, took on extra beauty. To this very day, this one of my all time favourite photoshoots and I am very pleased to share those images with you.

As you travel north along the walking path you will come across Blair Park. This popular park has a spectacular water feature and is an ideal location for events. In the summer of 2019 I went there to take a series of images during the Port Alberni Pride picnic.
