Broken Group

Located in the center of Barkley Sound, the broken group is made up of over 10 islands, islets, and rocky outcrops scattered throughout. It is an internationally reknowned location for canoe trips and isolated camping. The wildlife is spectacular with eagles everywhere, sealions resting, whales feeding and so much more.
These images are from a day long journey I took. We started aboard the MV Francis Barkley in Port Alberni. The trip took us to Ucluelet and then returned. During this unbelievable journey I took as many photos as I possibly could. Many times I would go from side to side, getting images of everything around me. Today, the Francis Barkley does not go to Ucluelet or through the Broken Group. There are many tour operators in the area (both Port Alberni and Ucluelet) and if you can, please make the trip as part of your bucklet list.
